Johnny Depp designed the mood colors of the Hatter. Mad hatter makeup skin#Hatters' skin was affected by mercury poisoning, but the colors were also mood colors. And then the white and brown eyeliner and white eyelashes, and below his eyes a touch of red and some pink on one, and a little bit of black - they’re not supposed to match. ' There are actually ten different colors in his eyes altogether' " -Patty York "His character suffers from mercury poisoning - on one eye I used lavenders and purples, and on the other I used turquoise and light blue and dark blue, and there’s a little touch of green in there. And when they were exposed to mercury many years it really started affecting them: skin began to pale down, nails began to gain some "yellowish" color, hair started to become fuzzy. During that process some of that mercury vaporized and the felt maker/ milliner accidently breathed some of that. The real milliners (hatters) in the old days used mercury at cluing the felt in hats making. when he's happy he blooms - when he's sad or angry he withers" I brushed up the fake mustash area to stick out I did this as I was extremely inspired by the way the Tim burton rendition of the mad hatters hair stuck out."Ash white skin, blooming colors - sometimes even dark. I also dabbed small amounts over the rest of the skin to make it gressy.ĭue to the cancellation of the photoshoot due to the pandemic Covid-19 I had to alter the look slightly.Īs I had to create this look on myself I had to create a fake beard effect using crepe hair. I used my bruise wheel to create the sunken eyes.Īs a finishing touch I added a small amount of extreamly wet over the burn to add a greesy shine over it. I painted this with alcohol paints as well as small amounts of red and yellow bruise jels. I also made a rougher skin texture with sculpt gel. I used both sculpt gel and a small amount of latex to create peeled skin on the burn. I also really wanted a very scary style much like the work of Joshua Hoffine I thought that we could create allot of dark atmospheric shots of this charecter. PhotographyĪs there are 5 different photographers coming to this event i know I will get a bunch of different style images however I really want to get some low-key lighting images as I was inspired by the low-key image by photographer Emmanuel Dí Guerro. This model also owns allot of top hats and suits so i didn’t have to worry about costume for this particular look. One of my models was an older man that I felt worked perfectly with this charecter design. Figure 7- Figure 8-Įvery makeup artist had a total of two models to work on. I am part of a group of photographers, makeup artists and models that regularly get together to work on creative shoots. However I decided I wanted it to be a fresher burn. This is a burn victim makeup by Richard Redlefsen. Figure 5.įrom this I was inspired to create a burned hatter look. Mad hatter makeup movie#I was extremely inspired by the fire scene in the movie alice though the looking glass. Mad hatter makeup series#“Mad as a hatter and twice as twisted.” Lewis carroll, Alice in wonderland 1865Īfter looking at the sfx makeup artist Lauren Mychal aka Glam and Gore who did a series of sfx Disney charecter looks.įor the first step I decided to look into different rendishions of the mad hatter that I have seen in both film and video games.
